AGENTS & SUPPORT

Good IT support starts
with knowing your business.

An agent gives NICT a connection to your devices. Onboarding gives that connection context. Together, they make it possible to support you properly and act as your IT representative.

01 / YOUR DEVICES

Agents are the minimum.

Every workstation and server within NICT’s ongoing support scope needs an agreed agent subscription. This applies to new and existing clients.

02 / YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Onboarding is required.

We need an accurate picture of your systems and agreed access before taking on ongoing responsibility. Co-management includes a coordinated onboarding process.

03 / YOUR REPRESENTATIVE

Authority stays with you.

We agree the support scope, spending approvals and who NICT can speak to on your behalf. You keep control of your business and decisions.

THE PRACTICAL FOUNDATION

What your agent subscription does.

A managed agent is software installed on an agreed device. It gives NICT information about device health and the tools to carry out maintenance and authorised remote support.

THE FOUNDATION

Managed Workstation Agent

For the computers your people rely on.

$16.10 / device / month

Ex GST · $17.71 inc GST

  • Remote monitoring and device health alerts
  • Automated patch management
  • Microsoft Defender for Business protection
  • Remote access tools so NICT can assist
THE FOUNDATION

Managed Server Agent

For the systems your business relies on.

$57.00 / server / month

Ex GST · $62.70 inc GST

  • Server monitoring and maintenance policies
  • Microsoft Defender for Business for Servers
  • Monitored backup and restore verification
  • Tools for remote diagnosis and support

Agents provide the tools and visibility for support. They do not include unlimited labour, every software licence or a 24/7 staffed helpdesk. Server backup scope, storage, retention and restore checks are confirmed during onboarding.

MANDATORY ONBOARDING

First, we get the foundations right.

Onboarding is real technical work. It establishes what exists, what needs attention and how we will work together before NICT takes ongoing responsibility.

DISCOVER

A picture of what you have.

Review devices, network, key software and access. Identify business priorities, review Microsoft 365 identity where applicable and document the findings.

ESTABLISH

A baseline we can support.

Deploy agreed agents and policies, review protection and verify applicable backups with a documented restore test. Record existing issues and any separately quoted work.

AGREE

A clear way of working.

Document responsibilities, support routes and authorised access. Agree how credentials are handled, how approvals work and when NICT represents you with suppliers.

$499 base + $45 per workstation + $180 per server

Onboarding starting estimate, ex GST. The final fixed quote is confirmed after scoping. Additional modules and work to resolve pre-existing faults are separate and agreed before they start. If you already work with NICT, we check what is already complete before confirming any remaining onboarding cost.

CO-MANAGED IT

Your existing IT, backed by NICT.

Keep your internal team or provider and add NICT where it helps. We can be your technical representative, a second set of eyes or hands-on support for an agreed part of the environment.

Plan our working arrangement
  • Start with a shared review.
Understand existing tools, agreements and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate the agent setup.
Agree deployment and policies with the current team to avoid conflicting changes.
  • Document who does what.
Set ownership of alerts, maintenance, backups, incidents and supplier contact.
  • Complete onboarding together.
Co-management changes the division of work; the need for a clear baseline remains.

HONEST ABOUT THE SCOPE

Know what you’re
paying for.

The agent subscription is the minimum foundation. The level of hands-on support, advice and project work is agreed to suit your business.

$185.00 / hour ex GST

Additional labour for onboarded, subscribed clients · $203.50 inc GST · billed in 15-minute increments. Remote support uses 15-minute increments; onsite visits have a one-hour minimum. See one-off, after-hours and project rates.

Tools and people are different.

Automated monitoring can run around the clock. Staffed support hours, response targets and included labour depend on the service arrangement you choose.

Access has a purpose.

We agree permissions for monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting. Support can involve access to business information; the extent and handling of that access are agreed during onboarding.

You stay in control.

Account ownership, credential handling and supplier authority are documented. Recommendations come with a reason, and additional work needs your approval.

Clear commercial terms.

The monthly agent plan runs on a rolling 30-day agreement with 30 days’ notice. Annual prepayment is also available. Your service agreement confirms scope, billing, cancellation and any annual refund terms. Read our operating charter and service terms.

A FEW PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before we get started.

Does subscribing make NICT my IT representative immediately?
The subscription starts the process. NICT takes on the agreed ongoing role once onboarding is completed, access is established and your service scope and authority are confirmed. A website order by itself does not complete that work.
Can I book one-off help without a subscription?
Yes. One-off assistance is available at the published rate, subject to availability and an agreed scope. It does not start ongoing monitoring or representation. If you want NICT to take an ongoing role, agent subscriptions and onboarding are required.
Do I have to buy a larger support package?
Agents and onboarding are the minimum. Additional support can be arranged separately, including work at the published labour rate or an agreed support plan. We discuss the level of service you need before you commit to more.
What if I’m already a NICT client?
Ask Nick to review your current setup. We confirm which devices are enrolled, any gaps in onboarding and what needs to change. This avoids placing a duplicate order for work or subscriptions already in place.
Do I need a server agent if everything is in the cloud?
Only if a server is within the environment NICT will support. Microsoft 365 or another hosted service does not automatically mean you have a server to enrol. If you are unsure, start with your known workstations and ask us to check the rest.
Are security and backups guaranteed?
No service can promise that every incident will be prevented or every outage avoided. Onboarding confirms the protection, backup scope, storage, retention and restore checks for your environment, plus any gaps or additional work needed.
What happens after I choose my devices?
We confirm your order or enquiry, agree the onboarding scope and arrange access. For co-managed environments, we involve your current IT team. Deployment and ongoing responsibilities are confirmed as part of that process.
Can NICT help with suppliers, licences and AI decisions?
Yes. Supplier discussions, technical reviews and practical technology planning can form part of your agreed engagement. We define the task, authority and cost so you know what is covered.
